Does Dubai give a reason for visa rejection?
No. GDRFA does not provide an official written reason when a Dubai tourist visa is rejected. The result simply states rejected — no explanation attached. As a licensed agency with direct GDRFA access, we sometimes get informal guidance from our contacts — but this is not always possible and carries no official weight.
What are the most common real reasons for rejection?
1. Old visa still active on your file
One of the most common causes we see: a previous Dubai visa that was never properly closed. The applicant is unaware it is still open. GDRFA sees an active visa record and rejects the new application. Fix: cancel the old visa before reapplying.
2. Nationality-based scrutiny
Applicants from Nigeria, Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Lebanon and similar profiles face higher scrutiny. This does not mean automatic rejection — but the application needs to be well-supported with documentation.
3. Missing or insufficient documents
Chronic document issues — particularly thin bank statements or unverifiable employment — can lead to rejection. If documents are simply missing, GDRFA usually issues a “documents required” notice rather than a full rejection.
4. Previous UAE immigration issue
Any previous deportation, overstay ban, or flagging by UAE immigration appears in the GDRFA system and causes rejection. These need to be resolved through a formal clearance process before a new application can succeed.
Is there a waiting period before reapplying?
No. There is no cool-off period after a Dubai visa rejection. You can reapply immediately. However, reapplying with identical documents through the same channel rarely produces a different result — change something before you resubmit.
Should you reapply through GDRFA or switch to ICP RAK?
This is the most important advice we can offer. All applicants should try GDRFA first — it is the main Dubai visa authority. If GDRFA rejects, the next step is to reapply through ICP Ras Al Khaimah.
ICP is a separate UAE federal immigration authority with different assessment criteria. In our agency experience, we route most rejected applicants through ICP RAK and regularly achieve approvals that GDRFA declined. This is not a workaround — ICP and GDRFA are both legitimate UAE immigration authorities, and the same applicant can be assessed differently by each.
